Surviving Instead of Living, You’ve Lost Yourself
“I don’t like the direction my life is going.”
“I need to change something, but I don’t know what.”
“Even thinking about figuring out what I want is exhausting.”
One day just runs into another.
Always behind, you’re just on auto-pilot.
You start the day already tired. Even before it’s really begun.
Relying on coffee, and then more coffee, but always feeling drained.
There’s a blur of “should dos” in the back of your mind. You never quite get around to them.
Sometimes you forget what month it is. “Where does the time go?” you think.
Work feels “blah.”
You show up but something is missing.
There is no spark, no excitement.
You don’t know what direction you’re going anymore.
Should you find a new job? But that seems like too much effort.
Nobody Understands
Friendships that once felt close are distant.
Even your partner seems to have trouble understanding.
There’s worry that everyone is tired of hearing about how stressed you are.
You feel you’ve worn out your welcome.
“Are people really here for me?” “Can I trust anyone?”
Your mind never shuts down.
Thoughts are relentless, always swirling with the same self-doubt and negative messages.
Tired all the time, you eat and drink more than you’d like. You know you shouldn’t, but sometimes you just don’t care.
If only the exhaustion was the result of working out or exerting energy.
You joke, “Being stressed is my cardio”; but really, you’re worn out from life itself.
Nothing Seems Fun Anymore
What happened to the things you used to enjoy?
They never seem to get on the schedule these days.
Instead, it feels easier to just numb out with over-eating or have yet another Netflix binge.
Effective Therapy Can
Interrupt These Patterns
Doing nothing different means that nothing will change.
Things haven’t felt right for a while.
There is a part of you that craves a life well-lived. A part reading this right now that is ready to make changes.
If not now, then when?
Hi, I’m Teresa.
From places of struggle, we have the capacity to grow.
We will start where you are. Through therapy, we will look at what works, what doesn’t, and see how you enact change for yourself.
Then we’ll work toward living with greater compassion for your past choices and current emotions.
Our mundane and difficult life experiences transform us.
In my 20 years of clinical experience, I have been honored to facilitate and witness the growth of people who turn loss, grief, ennui, illness, and life stress into a catalyst for deep personal change and growth.
I work with people who are new to therapy and also with those who have tried therapy before without experiencing lasting change.
Live Life Differently
I often hear, “If I could only figure out why I do things.” Figuring it out is only half the battle.
Re-programming your nervous system to become aware of how your body holds
your emotions is one of my specialties to promote lasting change.
My goal is to help you re-wire how you see yourself, so that you can live life differently.
We practice this together.
The Practice of Therapy: Coming Home
Coming home means being at peace with yourself. It means trusting yourself enough to ask the important questions to grow. To begin to know yourself and what you need. To nudge yourself toward facing difficult decisions. To live life focused on what truly matters to you. I would be honored to guide you in this important life process.
